The Forest Wildlife program proposes to utilize on Generation Green Intern during the summer of 2018 to assist with more administrative duties. Duties would include assisting with the gathering, organizing, and validation of records, literature searches for various species and activities, data entry, and assisting with the development of social media and other media stories and tweets related to wildlife.
Educational Aspect
Intern Proposal: Working with the Forest Wildlife Biologist, the intern would: 1. Gather, organize, and validate spotted owl and Oregon spotted frog records for the Forest-wide Programmatic Biological Assessment. 2. Assemble Oregon spotted frog records into appropriate site folders. 3. Assist in searching through bat information and organizing said information 4. Organize carnivore survey data 5. Data entry into the NRIS Wildlife database 6. Develop tweets and stories related to various wildlife (Year of the Bird, Endangered Species Day, Pollinator Week, stories on camera monitoring, importance of guzzlers, etc.) 7. Work with district biologists in obtaining necessary records 8. Coordinating with other agency biologists 9. Potential to assist other field crews with field work 10. Participation in the Deschutes NF New Employee Orientation occurring in June 2018 (to include Defensive Driving, First Aid, and CPR training).
